We're Running Out of Gas.
Title: Skip The Funeral
Artist: Karmella's Game
Album: The Art of Distraction
Release: 2006
Opinion: Karmella's Game are my hometown band, dude. Four people from good ol' Baltimore. KTO (the singer) has so much raw energy. I hope I got that when I sang this song. Hopefully I don't sound like her though. Her voice doesn't suit me, but somehow I end up sounding like her when I sing their songs. :/

Title: All Alone In My Big Empty Apartment
Artist: Bomb The Music Industry!
Album: Goodbye Cool World
Release: 2006
Opinion on song: This song is very sad, but in some ways- very funny. I dunno. I love singing along. It's nice and simple in melody, but the lyrics are pretty thought-provoking, I guess. Jesus.....okay, I just love Jeff Rosenstock. That's why. Alright?

Maybe Next Life....
Title: Sarah
Artist: The Slackers
Album: Better Late Than Never
Release: 1996
Opinions on song: Oh, so beautiful. Christian Dinesen, the boyfriend before the notorious Luke Mayberry, gave this to me on a mixtape entitled "Love for a Rude Girl, Love, A Rude Boy" So cute. I love the jazzyness (is that a word? if not it is now.) and the swing to the vocal part. God, I just love the Slackers in general. Go listen to them. Stop reading this.

Title: The Best Of What's Around
Artist: Dave Matthews Band
Album: Under The Table And Dreaming
Release:1994
Opinions on songs: Most people who only know DMB from radio airplay won't know this song, and that's a damn shame. I love this song, it's fun to sing, and it's a great pick-me-up. So yeah, Ants Marching aint got nothin on this song. :)

So good, so good, so good!
Song: Sweet Caroline
Artist: Originally by Neil Diamond, in this case- Dave Matthews Band.
Album: for DMB: Live Trax 6- Fenway Park, Boston Mass.
Release: for DMB: 2006
Opinions on song: I am very deeply tied to this song. This is my grandfather's favorite song. When I was a little girl, he would put the Neil Diamond record on the record player and sing it to me while swinging me around in his arms. He was my hero, and still is. My grandfather has Parkinson's Disease and has now lost the ability to do things like dress himself, and even sing. His talking is about to go too. So, this song is something that echos in my head often, and the words are engraved in my memory. I've always loved the original, but the Dave Matthews Band (another favorite band of my grandfather) did a great job performing this song. I love the way Dave sings it. So, I picked their version to sing along with. I think its better for my voice. :) It was fun and emotional to sing this song. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm Not Fuckin Crazy Either.....
Title: Not Fuckin Around
Artist: Big D & The Kids Table
Album: Fluent In Stroll
Released: 2009
Opinions on song: Have I ever mentioned how much I love how Big D has the Doped Up Dollies singing with them? Have I ever mentioned how I love stroll being mixed in with ska-punk? Well here you go. A fun song about Dave's girl asking him a bunch of crazy questions to see if he'll stay true. Its a riot to see live, and a lot of fun to sing along to. I suggest you all download the song and give it a try. It's on iTunes.

That Fine Fine Line Is Crossed
Title: There's A Fine Fine Line
Performer: Stephanie D'Abruzzo as Kate Monster
Musical: Avenue Q
Opinions on song: God, this song is so true and so personal and when Stephanie performed it as Kate in the OBC, she put so much raw emotion into it, that it's almost impossible to perform it as well as she does without having gone through the heartbreak and suffering that Kate is experiencing over Prinston in this scene of the musical. If you haven't seen Avenue Q, it is hilarious. Hate offensive humor? See it for this song. Its so touching and its an amazing feeling to sing it.

Ridin' My Bike and Doin' Stuff That I Like
Song: "Down Down Down"
Artist: The Expendables
Album: The Expendables
Release: 2007
Opinions on song: I can't stop dancing any time I sing this song. I mean, even walking down the street and this is on my ipod, I sing and dance. It's a very fun song, very repetitive melody, but still fun to sing along. It gets the positive vibes flowing.

She's leaving home.....
Song: "1 Way To Avalon"
Artist: IKE
Album: Tie the Knot With All That You Got
Release: 2009
Opinions on song: Its a fun one to sing along to, especially on a bad day. John Faye writes songs you can relate to (even though in this case- my mom hasn't left home to go to a nursing home on the other side of the country), and they have beautiful melodies and great guitar sound. I really dig singing IKE songs, as you can hopefully tell through the video. I will be singing more of them in time.

Shabutie!
Title: Devil in Jersey City
Artist: Coheed and Cambria
Album: Second Stage Turbine Blade
Release: 2002
Opinions on song:
Goddamnit Claudio, your range makes me want to sing in your tone. That's not good if I want to sound musical in any way. However, you write some very fun melodies to your songs and very interesting lyrics. I'd been avoiding the "f-bomb", but look what you did!
I had fun. It's a great song.

Alpha and Omega
Song: "Somewhere In The Between"
Artist: Streetlight Manifesto
Album: Somewhere In The Between
Release: 2007
(okay, Streetlight, its almost 3 years since you released something....fix this)
Comments about song:
It was only a matter of time until I sang something by Streetlight. This is probably on the easier side of their songs, the harder ones having speedy tongue-twisters. I did find it a fun song to sing, and the solos in the middle provided a nice rest for my vocals so I could have the energy to sing the last part of the song, which is pretty much faster than the rest. Overall, great song.

Tick tock, honey....
TWO SONGS TODAY!
Song 1:
Title: Sally Sue
Artist: Holy Ghost Tent Revival
Album: So Long I Screamed
Release:
Song 2:
Title: (Her) Father Was A Bastard
Artist: Holy Ghost Tent Revival
Album: So Long I Screamed
Release: 2009
Reactions to Song(s):
Sally Sue is sorta a joke. Its one line sang twice. HOWEVER, it suits the instrumental aspects of the song. So yeah, it was nice.
(Her) Father Was A Bastard is one of my favorites by HGTR. The range is perfect for me, and I love how they play with dynamics. It definitely can show off the best in a singer's voice. I personally could have been better, but I was too excited to sing the song, as you can tell by my smiles and dancing....

Forever flowing....
Song: "Inner Light Spectrum" [huh.... does that ring a bell?]
Artist: 311
Album: Transistor
Released: 1997
Opinions on song:
The song was very easy to sing. Melody wasn't too challenging, and SA Martinez's vocal range is pretty damn close to the lowest comfortable reaches my own, so singing in my lower range was not that bad. Very relaxing to sing, and very slow song in general, with a lot of repetition. But no matter what, I will always love this song.
